Exhibition of Paintings and Drawings by Simeon Solomon, April 1966. Intro. by Lionel Lambourne. New York: Durlacher Brothers, 1966, [12 pp].

ANNOTATION
This unillustrated pamphlet for the New York exhibition at the Durlacher Gallery marks the first exhibition of Solomon's work since the two posthumous exhibitions held in 1905 and 1906. It also marks Lambourne's entrance into the field of Solomon scholarship. He provides a chronology and short introduction to Solomon and his artistry, describing the biographical events which influenced his work in its different stages.

Kramer, Hilton. "Simeon Solomon: Preview of a Revival?" The New York Times, 10 April 1966: II, 13:4.

ANNOTATION
In this review of the 1966 Solomon exhibition at the Durlacher Gallery, Kramer links Solomon's newfound popularity to the revival in Art Nouveau, and introduces an interesting idea that his work could have been an unconscious influence on Pablo Picasso in the 1890s.

Werner, Alfred. "Simeon Solomon: A Rediscovery." Arts Magazine, 40 (May 1966): 49-51.

ANNOTATION
This article by Werner is a cursory overview in response to the Durlacher exhibit. He continues the new sympathetic approach   to Solomon's work by repeating his earlier argument (1960) that Solomon was less influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and worked more in the manner of the French Symbolists Gustave Moreau and Odilon Redon. Includes illustrations of Moses in His Mother's Arms, The Anguish of Miriam, David Mourning Absalom, The Sleepers and One That Watcheth, and King Solomon.

Treble, Rosemary. "Abraham, Rebecca and Simeon Solomon." Burlington Magazine, 128 (January 1986): 53-54.

ANNOTATION
Reviewing the 1985 Geffrye Museum exhibition (1985), Treble focuses on the two elder siblings because she assumes most  already know about Simeon. Overall she praises the exhibition, and notes the progression evident from Simeon's early days as an illustrator to his later days as a Symbolist.

Christian, John, ed. The Last Romantics: The Romantic Tradition in British Art, Burne-Jones to Stanley Spencer. London: Lund Humphries, 1989, 82-83.

ANNOTATION:
This exhibition, which focused on late British Romanticism, included five works by Solomon. Each work has a brief entry in the catalogue, which also includes a brief biographical sketch.
